OUTFIT OF THE DAY #68: Monster University
Lippie: Colour Pop “DR. M”
For almost half of my grade school education I attended a private school and had to wear a full uniform daily. Oxford shirt, sweater vest, plaid skirt, tie, socks and dress shoes. When I moved and started attending public school, I didn’t know what to wear. It took me a while to edit my personal style which is still constantly adapting. This post is dedicated to the younger me, my inner school girl. Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links.
I was gifted this adorable monster backpack for Christmas by one of my friends. Everyone who know me knows about my Betsey Johnson obsession. This mini backpack inspired my entire look, who says you can’t choose your accessories before your outfit. Originality hasn’t always been in style but growing up I really disliked wearing the same look as someone else. (Hence why I don’t like who wore it best lists). I don’t mind wearing the same piece but I wear it my own way I don’t believe in store styled outfits. I’m all about embracing your personal style and showing off your unique aesthetic, which is exactly what I did with this look.
I wore a white button up shirt dress with a floral lace inserts along the sleeves and across the back. This shirt dress is my latest thrift find and features flower shaped buttons. I added gold collar pins to the shirt neckline at gift the plain shirt a more luxe vibe. I completed the look with basic black stretch leggings from Rainbows and my suede pom pom slip on sneakers. I chose the backpack and bold lipstick to break up the black and white. It can become a snooze feast without a pop of color or a print some where.
Last but not least my accessory of the day is the “Only Exception” necklace by the band Paramore. Paramore’s music is the first thing my fiancee and I really bonded over. He bought me this necklace for our 5th anniversary from Paramore’s gift shop. Necklace will restock but does sell out fast so keep your eyes glued to there site if you want one. Gold tone necklace features a engraved locket as pendant.
