Hey Girl Hey, I put together my own outfit makeover and I can’t wait to give you all the details. But first things first do your remember OOTD #15? Well one day I was in a DIY mood and I wanted to revamp one of my old looks. I chose something I haven’t worn in a while but was on trend for the season. So I took to it with my scissors and ran it through my sewing machine. As you all know Snakeskin is all the rage on the runways for Fall this year. I gave the blouse a DIY makeover, if you interested in this project here is a tutorial. I have been seeing off the shoulder tops everywhere and wanted to give the trendy look a try. WARNING: If you don’t like to wear strapless bras (like me) this trend may not be your cup of tea. But I challenge you all to show off your shoulders like the weather still allows.
I paired this Snakeskin blouse with a pleated midi skirt similar to the long midi skirt I made in the original look. I accessorized outfit with my rose gold script “Create” necklace and faux leather Snakeskin clutch and flats. Get details on my “Create” necklace here.
These pointed toe flats are a chic and subtle way to try the trend if you’re on the fence. My review for the pointed toe snake skin flats will be live tomorrow so check back for that. The large clutch is one of my favorite recent thrift finds. One fashionista’s trash could be another one’s treasure.
Snake Skin Trend. Bare Shoulders Trend. Love em or leave? Comment your thoughts, I love to hear from you.
Hey Dolls, How is life treating you? This week I’m slaying in some serious designer threads. On top I’m wearing a fuchsia top from Vera Wang’s Simply Vera brand. I love the color, I call it Passion Fruit. Top is size XL but the fabric is very stretchy and fits comfortably. Who said fat girls can’t wear Vera Wang? This top features a chiffon inserts at it’s draped neckline, hem and pleated sleeves. Talk about an amazing thrift store find.
Skirt designed and sewn by me. I was gifted this fabric during one of my trips to New York. It is a monochrome print; black, white and grey make up it’s color palette. I love a culture print and wanted to make a circle out of it. The print pairs well with pops of color like this fuschia top. Skirt features a black 1 1/2″ elastic waistband, full hem and wax finish. Fabric has a stiff hand that naturally adds volume and flare to the skirt.
I accessorized this look with black oxfords, bow stud earrings, bangles and a handbag. Patent leather oxfords feature pointed toes and a shiny finish that adds a dapper elegance to the look. Handbag features braided handles and inside zipper pocket.
Happy Monday dolls ! I know we are all exhausted from last week’s events but I hope you are all having a productive day. This past weekend I took my new skirt for a spin. A few weeks back I posted this teaser of my fabric printed in vintage perfume bottles. I bought this fabric during one of my late night trips to Wal-Mart. I came across it by accident but some of the best things in life unexpected.
I bought all that was left on the bolt and made a circle skirt with it. I added an elastic in the waist since the fabric has no stretch to it. I wanted it to be comfortable whether I tuck the skirt in or out. I also added in- seam pockets along the side seam, every garment is better with pockets.
I paired the skirt with a black crew neck sweater from Talbots. Sweater features a ribbed knit neckline which added a simple but chic element to the sweater. Sweater is no longer in stock but Talbots offers several other options that are summer weather friendly. I wanted my skirt to be the star of my look so my only accessories were my black sandals by Charlotte Russe, my orange dream lipstick by E.L.F. and my smile. 🙂
Hey dolls ! I know it’s been awhile I’ve missed you. I have been in New York as you know attendings events and shopping per usual. A few days ago I got the pleasure of meeting up with my Canadian babe Jewels of Big & Blunt. I gave her and runway model Jennifer a tour of the city. We started our epic day by having bagels and coffee on 5th ave. That’s right dolls we had Breakfast at Tiffany’s & Co just like Audrey Hepburn in the movie. It was so much fun getting to know these ladies and showing them around my home state.
When I was packing for this trip I had just finished a mini collection. These yellow shorts are a part of that collection and I thought to myself. What better way to bring a little Florida sunshine to New York. Shorts feature elastic in the waist, drawstring closure at front waist, and pockets ! That’s right pockets on shorts, I love a garment with pockets.
Shorts are something I rarely wear but hey it’s summer time. Beat the heat with a cute pair of shorts. My 3 tips for wearing shorts are:
Make sure they fit comfortably and are your correct size otherwise they will ride up and slide down often.
Make sure the inseam is a little longer then the side seam this will prevent chub rub when you walk.
Invest in bandelettes or coconut oil they both also are really awesome for prevent chub rub also known as chaffing.
After breakfast we took the train to Central Park. We’re we took pics, chatted about life, and hiked around looking for Imagine. We combed through Strawberry Fields and had to scare off a body shamer. I had so much fun showing these girls the city. It feels great to spend time with like minded women who know my struggle. Now I need to plan a trip to Canada Ay !
Top: Rainbow | Shorts: Fatshion Forward (by me) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe | Backpack: Betsey Johnson
Happy Fatshion Friday !!! I have another up-cycle project for you all today. You ladies know how much of a pain chub rub is, not only does it take a toll on your thighs but also on your clothes. You know the sad moment when you discover a hole forming on your thigh of your favorite pants jeans or leggings. This happened to my favorite pair pink cheetah leggings, so instead of sending the to an early grave I found a super easy upcycle tutorial online.
I cut the whole crotch out and created a new scoop neckline. I serged the raw edge to give it more of a deconstructionist look. The legs became the sleeves creating my fabulous new crop top. I then layered the look with a vest from Forever 21. Vest features laser cut outs along side seams under the arm and pockets along the princess seam.
I accessorized the look with black bangles, a pink & black beaded bracelet and pink lipstick. This lipstick is apart of the moisturizing lipstick collection by E.L.F. the color is called “Sociable”. Threw on my favorite pair of black leggings and was out the door.
Completed the look with my Quilted Faux Leather Combat Boots With Zipper Detail by Wet Seal. I absolutely love these combat boots they are edgy yet chic and super comfortable. There is an exposed zipper detail at the ankle, a lace-up design, metal eyelets, and stylized stitching. Check out my review, here.
