Happy Tuesday Shoes-day dolls 🙂 Remember last month when I met Betsey Johnson at Macy’s. Well while I was there waiting to meet the 8 I did do some shopping. I purchased a pair of puff slip-on sneakers. These shoes kill the the pom pom trend. Sneakers feature an over-sized, faux-fur pom-pom adorned to the round toe cap. I have been seeing pom poms everywhere on earrings, cell phone and handbag accessories, and on shoes. Not sure where the trend derived from maybe Rihanna started with her work video, drop a comment and share if you know.
I am not gonna lie I was not a fan of the pom pom trend initially but it grew on me. I decided to try the trend in a subtle way, and I knew these black velvet shoes were the way to do it. As soon as I saw them I was in love and I don’t own any Betsey Johnson shoes so I was eager to grab them. Sole of sneaker offers a nice 1″ platform. Elastic gore allows for easy slip on and off, sneakers are super comfortable and great for casual looks. These babies are priced at $69.00 and are available in sizes 6.5 -10. They were sold out in the color and size I wanted so I placed an in store order with Macy’s and they shipped the shoes to my house for FREE. I bought the shoes on Saturday and they were at my house on Wednesday. Quick, easy, painless. These sneakers also come in cobalt blue.
The second I found out Betsey Johnson was coming to Miami, Florida I knew I had to be there. I have been a fan of her work for over 8 years. She is my favorite fashion designer of all time. Her whimsical, femme, punk aesthetic is fun and I love that her designs are out of the box. My favorite things to buy from Betsey Johnson are her handbags and her jewelry. But with 50 years of fashion under her belt she has dabbled in almost every department from women’s & children’s apparel, home decor & bedding, bridal, athletic wear and dancewear. I travelled about 12 hours round trip thanks too Miami’s awful traffic but I arrive at the DadeLand Mall at 10:30, a little. At the entrance of Macy’s sat a huge black shiny roller skate car.
The roller skate car acted as the head of the parade, as a trail of Betsey paraphernalia followed. It was so exciting and refreshing the way the mannequins were posed and styled. It added a certain sophistication to such a youthful collection.
There were fresh flower bouquets around the store similar to the pink rose petals Betsey made rain down on the crowd in the store. Decorations dangled from the ceiling, and we’re printed on the wall. It was like stepping into Betsey World. Betsey floated down the escalator with her entourage greeting the crowd, her DJ and her team members. She was full of energy as she danced around to the music, the security guards couldn’t keep up with this 74 year old. The store was decorated beautifully to celebrate the collaboration between Betsey Johnson and Macy’s for the new DreamWorks movie Trolls. The merchandise displays were so bright and colorful they really screamed Betsey and beckoned people from all corners of the store. The displays featured her famous Kitsch bags, shoes and other little Betsey keepsakes. I love how youthful this collection is very junior esq but still incorporating current trends like the faux fur pom poms.
The merchandise displays were filled with pink and blue faux fur, glitter, googly eyes and gold. I shopped around the store fell in love with a pair of black faux suede slip on sneakers that had fluffy faux fur pom poms. I will be reviewing my shoes next week and I will also be talking about what I wore to meet Betsey so check back for that. I was first in the V.I.P. line and absolutely nervous to meet Betsey.
V.I.P.’s recieved a Betsey selfie stick and a pack of hair ties inside a big pink tote bag. We also recieved a hard copy of our photo with Betsey and Macy’s gift card.
I sat next to her on the ivory leather couch with pink and silver sequins pillows. I told her I was a long time fan and loved her work. We posed for a quick photo op and then I proceeded to show her my 3-D Betsey inspired nails. She loved them and then showed me her nails. Betsey was very sweet and friendly, I hope to meet her again in this lifetime. Anyone who knows me knows how much I adore Betsey Johnson. My betsey collection is strong and growing and I am planning to start a haul series so you babes can see some of my collection.
Here are seven of my favorite pieces from this collection:
Outfit of the Day #56: Pink Attitude
My favorite color is pink so no matter the season it’s always welcomed. Today I’m styling this pink peasant blouse by Cynthia Rowley. Found this blouse during a trip to TJ Maxx. Peasant blouse features beautiful floral embroidery along neckline, sleeves and hem. One of my favorite features of the shirt are the 3/4 bishop sleeves and the tassels at the ends of the neckties. The neckties form a flirty little peek-a-boo when tied while giving off boho vibes. Blouse is a 3x and is true to size, style is meant to fit loose so if you size up it will be too big.
I paired pink peasant blouse with black low rise skinny leg pants by Michael Kors. These skinny pants fit like a glove around the butt and hips but don’t offer any support for the tummy hence the name “low rise”. I’m wearing a size 3x, pant runs big and I did make a few adjustments around the hip area. Pant has a sphere gold plated MK emblem on the right back pocket. Skinny leg pant features four pockets total; two in the front and two in the back. Pant also has belt loops in case you want to accessorize with a chiffon scarf, chain or a leather belt.
I accessorized the look with black faux leather oxfords, quilted faux leather bag, and rainbow zebra print nerd glasses. Get all the details on my accessories listed below. I reviewed my shoes and lipstick here so check that out.“Pink isn’t just a color it’s an Attitude too!”
