My Favorite Looks From The Met Gala

“Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” was the theme for this years Met Gala. Lace veils, headdresses, long trains, and jeweled embellishments we’re seen at every turn as the theme inspired  looks took the Gala steps. Here are my favorites looks from the event, first up Rita Ora wearing Prada.I loved everything about this look from the floral headdress to the elegant Prada gown with it’s long sheer train, low back and multicolored colored details. Not to mention the long sequins gloves. Rita Ora served us with grace in her Prada, and you can tell by her posture that she felt like a queen in this gown. You know pink is my guilty pleasure and Tracee Ellis Ross is making it look oh so fabulous. Am I the only one catching Diana vibes ? I am also seeing some vintage inspiration in this Michael Kors Collection gown. Is it the glitter, the thick waist belt or maybe it’s Tracie’s hair? Whatever it is I am hear for it !
Here is another look that mesmerized me. So many things to adore about this gown Bee Shaffer wore to the Gala. First there is the ruffle one shoulder neckline that goes around and drops off the other shoulder and ties into a bow. Bows are another guilty pleasure I have. This shade of red definitely exudes power especially in such a voluminous proportion. Last but not least the scalloped skirt on this Valentino Haute Couture gown sealed the deal for me. Next up is Zenday-Bay-Bay in her Catholic chivalric suit of armor gown. I really appreciated that Daya took a different approach at the theme no headdress or fluffy romantic gown her. She looked like a warrior princess with her layered bodice and sleeves that resembled metal plates similar to the armor of Knights of the Catholic Church wore. Zendaya slayed in this Versace gown, someone definitely did their homework. Also in Versace, Music artist SZA took my breath away in this blush colored gown. Musical artist appeared soft and romantic from the waist up with her sweetheart neckline. But from the waist down demanded attention with voluminous layers of tulle and chiffon. She completed the look with embellished, pointed toe, thigh high boots and a half sphere rose gold headdress.
Cardi B’s is queen of the music charts right now and she came through dressed as such in this embellished Moschino gown. Glowing from head to toe the pregnant artist was accompanied by Jeremy Scott (head designer for brand Moschino) wearing a coordinated look to Cardi’s. Can you say “drip drip”? Cardi and Jeremy came through dripping in pearls and jewel tone stones the pair looked like royalty.Yara Shahidi looks oh so chic in her Chanel cocktail dress. I love the voluminous layers effect of the under dress in combination with the sparkly smooth overlay. I feel like the theme was a bit of a miss with this look but I still love it anyway. Yara thinking was probably you can never go wrong with a dress from Chanel and she was right.
Another dress I found rather uninspired by the theme but just fell in love anyway was this plum, velvet overall gown by Valentino. Cynthia Erivo saved the look by accessorizing with jewelry by both Eva Fehren and Maria Tash. Her dramatic nails and bold hair color choice made the look overall interesting but not as over the top with Catholic symbols as her peers.Dripping in liquid gold the bodice of this gown looks painted on actress Kerry Washington. This Ralph Lauren gown does all the work minimal accessories, makeup and hair styling need to steal the show. I also love the big hair big hem look it make her waist look EXTRA snatch.

Last but not least the blonde and the beautiful Blake Lively. Where to start? The beautiful beading detail on the bodice that fans out all over the skirt and train. Or the luxe color fabric combination, impeccable fit and dramatic train. This Versace gown is so amazing, the sheer panels allow a sexy peak-a-boo that elongated Blake’s already long legs. So much to take in from every angle this gown was absolutely gorgeous.

Celebrity Style #2

OOTD #92: Celebrity Style

Hello fatshionistas 🙂 How did your week go? Do you know one of my most popular posts to date is my Celebrity Style post with Kendall Jenner. So I’m back at it again with a new look this time by Leona Lewis. I enjoy turning Celebrity Fashion into Fatshion. I’m recreating some of my favorite straight size looks worn by some of your favorite celebs and show you how to achieve the look in your size. Now let’s talk about his Leona Lewis look inspired by this fabulous striped maxi skirt I bought during my last trip to One Curvy Boutique.  I took to Pinterest and google looking for some ideas since nothing that came natural to me felt quite right. What did the results produce, you ask? This lovely photo of Leona Lewis on the red carpet in 2015 at the GLAMOUR U.K. Women Of The Year Awards. I let the stripe skirt be the center of the look as it’s dramatic length and fullness definitely exudes star quality. Just like Leona I paired my striped maxi skirt with a strappy crop top and black blazer.

I made the look my own with a bold red lippie and my accessories. I tried the mitch match trend via Betsey Johnson earrings and kept it trend with a layer pearl necklace. Can I just say that I love every time pearls come back in style they are personally one of my favorite vintage jewels.

Drop me a comment below and let me know who’s look you want me to tackle next 🙂

What I Wore….To See Black Panther

OOTD #90: My $11 Dress

Hey beau’s ! It’s been a long week for me with my grandma passing. My family decided to get out of the house and have some fun so we went to see Black Panther. The 12 of us piled into a few cars and then lines two rows in the theater. The movie was soooooooooooooooo good, I was literally on the edge of my seat for half the movie. Can I just say I loved the representation of women’s strength and power? I also loved all the fine eye candy in the movie, heeeeeyyyyy Michael B Jordan ;).  But seriously I recommend you round up your gyals or take your guy out and go see it! I was a little disappointed with some of the African accents, but impressed by the authentic Swahili. The costumes were AH-MAZING I couldn’t stop myself from cheering when I saw Jordan with his black panther suit with the leopard print mask!

Now let’s talk about what I word. My look consisted of a striped shift dress with a red rose print that I purchased at Ross Dress for Less for only $10.99. As soon as I laid eye on it I knew I had to have it. The print reminded me of Betsey Johnson and you babes know I live for Betsey. I accessorized the look with a black and gold striped clutch that was actual Betsey Johnson and so we’re my black bow sandals. I completed the look with a bare face and a bold red lippie.

#TuesdayShoeday Wishlist Feat. Ree-Bok

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links.
I am obsessed with Ree-Bok’s Freestyle Classic Hi Styles. They are suppppppppaaaaaa comfortable, without sucking the fun out of my look. On long shoot days I would wear combat boots to counteract being on my feet all day but they were so flat offering my feet no support. When I wear these bold colored, double strap kicks I know that I can have a day on the go with no interruptions. Nothing can slow me down with the support that the freestyle classics provide for my feet and ankles.

The foam mid-sole and padded sock liner provide comfort for a smooth ride and soft stepping. These kicks are lightweight yet durable, they cushion each step without weighing down your foot. Best of all, They last. $75 investment that lasts due to the high abrasion rubber outsole. They are available in so many different shades right now but my current favorite is a trio I like to call “Sherbet” soft pink, orange creamsicle, and lime glow. Collect em all like the true sneaker head you are.

Betsessory Haul Pt. 2

“#Photography is the story I fail to put into words.”— Destin Sparks ? #BetseyBabe

A post shared by Sherece?? (@fatshionforward) on

I can’t leave the house without some form of purse to carry my life around in. I use to be popular in school for carrying oversize designer totes. Now that I’m out of school and working I try to keep it light with a small kitsch bag that holds my essentials. If my portable charger, wallet, roller ball perfume, lipstick, keys and headphones fit we’re good to go.  Kitsch bags are great conversation starters they are the epitome of the statement bag and Betsey Johnson does it oh so well. The camera Kitsch bag was a birthday gift from my mom. Great gift for a blogger or photographer.

My addiction for leopard print doesn’t quit and Betsey enables is. Betsey really knows how to attract a girl’s wild side. This vintage “Leopard Lips” Betseyville bag was a Poshmark purchase. I also got my “Call Me Maybe” telephone bag from Poshmark, I put up quite a negotiation for it. Best part is the phone really works, plug it in and talk or use it as a speaker and play some music. Your phone controls the volume !

Something special that I noticed about Betsey Johnson is that her designs almost always have a special hidden feature that is kind of like a surprise just for you. Whether it’s a silky floral printed lining in a handbag or her famous signature on the zipper pull. She likes to add little details that really make each piece that much more special.

Last but not least my pom pom kicks. These babies came out during the pom pom fad, which has been traded in for pearls this season. Zapp slip on sneakers are available in black and blue. Shop BetseyJohnson.com now! and receive 30% off site wide plus get free shipping. Just use the code BYE2017  at checkout. Happy Shopping ?
