Travel: Next Stop, Grenada

Hey girl hey last month I stamped my passport and flew to the Island of Spice, Grenada. You can see all the pictures from my trip on my Travel highlight on Instagram. First I took a two hour flight from Orlando International Airport to Miami International Airport at the crack of dawn. The Miami Airport was inspiring with all it’s cool art displays and fun wall hangings. From the Miami International Airport I flew to Bishop International Airport which took about 5 hours.

As far as my airport look, my go to when travelling is comfy and cute. My favorite thing about visiting Grenada was the beautiful views; the beaches, mountains and the culture. Everyone knew each other like one big family. I got my tan on, went swimming, did yoga on the sand and collected glass & shells from the sea to take home. Mementos to meditate I call them.

While I was there I went fabric shopping at L. A Purcell Textile Fabrics Department and a few other small local fabrics shops. I ate the harvest of the island and listen to live music with the locals. I stayed in the village and woke up to sunlight and the sounds of the street traffic, small roads so everyone communicates but horn. I ate mangoes on the daily. I went site seeing to Grand Etang Lake, Annadale Waterfall and had a delicious dinner at the Nutmeg in St.George’s. I met my chef who’s birthday was 2 days after mine #TaurusGang .

Greneda was good to me, I can’t wait to return. Next stop, Trinidad & Tobago !

Fat is my favorite F word

Fat is my favorite F word ! But it hasn’t always been, the word Fat use to have power over me. But I’ve reclaimed it and infused it into my brand. I am choosing to empower myself and others through fashion and body positivity because neither of those things are inclusive to one type of person.  I’ll be showing off this fat summer body all season long with confidence. Happiness isn’t specific to one race, body type, gender or age. I was stunned to hear that “91% of women are unhappy with their body. 80% of women say images of women in media make them feel insecure.” We have to stop comparing ourselves to hundreds and thousands of dollars worth of surgeries, treatments and makeup. You don’t have to drink Flat tummy tea, bust your ass in the gym or go under the knife. “It’s okay to be fat and stay fat” Fat is not a bad word and having body fat does not equal poor health. Everybody is different, just love and embrace yours. Let your light shine from the inside out. Don’t hide inside this summer go out and tan those rolls 😉 Check out this full line up for more inspiration.

Celebrity Style #2

OOTD #92: Celebrity Style

Hello fatshionistas 🙂 How did your week go? Do you know one of my most popular posts to date is my Celebrity Style post with Kendall Jenner. So I’m back at it again with a new look this time by Leona Lewis. I enjoy turning Celebrity Fashion into Fatshion. I’m recreating some of my favorite straight size looks worn by some of your favorite celebs and show you how to achieve the look in your size. Now let’s talk about his Leona Lewis look inspired by this fabulous striped maxi skirt I bought during my last trip to One Curvy Boutique.  I took to Pinterest and google looking for some ideas since nothing that came natural to me felt quite right. What did the results produce, you ask? This lovely photo of Leona Lewis on the red carpet in 2015 at the GLAMOUR U.K. Women Of The Year Awards. I let the stripe skirt be the center of the look as it’s dramatic length and fullness definitely exudes star quality. Just like Leona I paired my striped maxi skirt with a strappy crop top and black blazer.

I made the look my own with a bold red lippie and my accessories. I tried the mitch match trend via Betsey Johnson earrings and kept it trend with a layer pearl necklace. Can I just say that I love every time pearls come back in style they are personally one of my favorite vintage jewels.

Drop me a comment below and let me know who’s look you want me to tackle next 🙂

Sunshine On A Cloudy Day

OOTD #91: Sunshine On A Cloudy Day
On the days that I wake up and I’m feeling oh so grey. Those days when I just can’t seem to shake the funky mood, I go to my closet and find an outfit that will brighten my mood. Either a bright color or a fun print, Something whimsy and playful to cheer me up. You know that saying “If you dress well you’ll feel well” I truly believe that.  On this cloudy day I went with a nice pop of yellow, I intended to literally add some sunshine to my day. This Calvin Klein dress features a layered fabric design down the front, and a zipper closure at the back. Dress is a true size 24 and the fabric is so comfortable. I accessorized this fun little day dress with a black floppy hat, A pair of black leather oxfords with cut outs.  Do you babes remember this striped blazer I bought at Plus Bklyn last year at the photo party. Well I have been living in it, so comfy and so chic. The elbow patches give off certain sophisticated professor vibe, I love the contrast between the stripes and the color. I completed the look with a black leather handbag with gold accents.

What I Wore….To See Black Panther

OOTD #90: My $11 Dress

Hey beau’s ! It’s been a long week for me with my grandma passing. My family decided to get out of the house and have some fun so we went to see Black Panther. The 12 of us piled into a few cars and then lines two rows in the theater. The movie was soooooooooooooooo good, I was literally on the edge of my seat for half the movie. Can I just say I loved the representation of women’s strength and power? I also loved all the fine eye candy in the movie, heeeeeyyyyy Michael B Jordan ;).  But seriously I recommend you round up your gyals or take your guy out and go see it! I was a little disappointed with some of the African accents, but impressed by the authentic Swahili. The costumes were AH-MAZING I couldn’t stop myself from cheering when I saw Jordan with his black panther suit with the leopard print mask!

Now let’s talk about what I word. My look consisted of a striped shift dress with a red rose print that I purchased at Ross Dress for Less for only $10.99. As soon as I laid eye on it I knew I had to have it. The print reminded me of Betsey Johnson and you babes know I live for Betsey. I accessorized the look with a black and gold striped clutch that was actual Betsey Johnson and so we’re my black bow sandals. I completed the look with a bare face and a bold red lippie.
