Stars Earn Stripes

OOTD #85: Plus Bklyn

Obsessed with this striped knit cardigan, it adds an effortless chic to any look. I think it’s the faux leather elbow patches that really sold me plus my obvious love for stripes. Especially stripes the are going in different directions it add a fun and detailed dynamic to the garment. It was the last one of it’s kind on the rack. size 3x it was meant to be.  I wasn’t leaving without it, sorry babes it’s SOLD OUT. I’m wearing a basic knit shift dress in a blush pink color. Black, pink and white always looks so good together, one of my favorite color combinations. Winter is all about minimalist fashions layered under luxurious outerwear. The Golden Rules

OUTFIT OF THE DAY #81: The Golden Rules
Happy Fatshion Friday loves 🙂 With the Fall season approaching rapidly I wanted to give you babes my golden rules to transitioning your waredrobe from summer to fall.
Rule #1 : Thou Shall Layer: Tanks , Camisoles, and short sleeves shirts can be layered over a long sleeve shirt or turtle neck. Short sleeves can also be layered under cardigans, blazers or sweaters. Add leggings or tights under short skirts and dresses.
Rule #2: Thou Shall Play Up Colors : Play up the darker shades in your summer prints like I did with this look.
Rule #3: Thou Shall DIY: Get creative ! Dye your light spring and summer colored clothes a darker tint. Whites to Nude. Yellow to Mustard. Pink to Red. Purple to Eggplant.
Show me how you transition your fall waredrobe using #FatshionForward

#TuesdayShoeday: Betsey Johnson Slip On Sneakers

2bjsneakers_fatshionforwardHappy Tuesday Shoes-day dolls 🙂 Remember last month when I met Betsey Johnson at Macy’s. Well while I was there waiting to meet the 8 I did do some shopping. I purchased a pair of puff slip-on sneakers. These shoes kill the the pom pom trend. Sneakers feature an over-sized, faux-fur pom-pom adorned to the round toe cap. I have been seeing pom poms everywhere on earrings, cell phone and handbag accessories, and on shoes. Not sure where the trend derived from maybe Rihanna started with her work video, drop a comment and share if you know.

I am not gonna lie I was not a fan of the pom pom trend initially but it grew on me. I decided to try the trend in a subtle way, and I knew these black velvet shoes were the way to do it. As soon as I saw them I was in love and I don’t own any Betsey Johnson shoes so I was eager to grab them. Sole of sneaker offers a nice 1″ platform.
1bjsneakers_fatshionforwardElastic gore allows for easy slip on and off, sneakers are super comfortable and great for casual looks. These babies are priced at $69.00 and are available in sizes 6.5 -10. They were sold out in the color and size I wanted so I placed an in store order with Macy’s and they shipped the shoes to my house for FREE. I bought the shoes on Saturday and they were at my house on Wednesday. Quick, easy, painless. These sneakers also come in cobalt blue.

How To Wear Floral Print For Fall?

Outfit of the Day #61: Chocolate x Roses
4fatshionforward_ootd61 Hey Girl Hey ! Here is my first OOTD since my return. I’m so excited Florida is finally getting chill enough for my fall wardrobe. This chocolate brown sweater  is one of latest thrift finds. Sweater features a cap sleeve and a cowl neck sweater. I love thrift shopping, it allows you to add a ton of style, fun, and vintage to your wardrobe but on a budget. You can find some rare gems that are no longer in store inventory. Remember one woman’s trash is another woman’s vintage treasure.
2fatshionforward_ootd61 I had a reader recently email me asking how she incorporate her summer floral into the fall and winter season. I told her to conquer the dark floral first since they are easier to match with the seasons color palette. But if your looking for a real challenge grab a floral with pinks, purples, blues and other bold colors. Pick a solid color within the floral print to highlight by wearing a top of the same color. Or you can just go for something neutral like white, black or nude. I wanted to go bolder so I chose this rich chocolate brown.
1fatshionforward_ootd61 This skirt is a Fatshion Forward original designed and made by me. Not sure how many of your know Wal-Mart sells fabric but they do and sometimes when I am just cruising for groceries or picking up from the Pharmacy I check out their inventory. They had this crepe back satin on sale for summer clearance during my last trip. I purchase all the yardage that was left which was only 4.5 yard. I decided to make myself a pretty floral skirt out of it and inspire you fatshionistas not to pack up your summer floral just yet. Satin skirt features roses of various sizes and colors but in a mirrored effect pattern. I absolutely fell head over heads for this fabric the moment I laid eyes on it. Something about the roses and the mirrored pattern made the floral print feel so graphic and modern.
3fatshionforward_ootd61 5fatshionforward_ootd61Last but not least I accessorize neckline with a bow necklace and flower midi rings from Miss A.com. If you have never heard of Miss A you should check out the site, everything is $1 so extremely budget friendly. I mixed together to Wet N Wild Lipsticks to achieve this cranberry colored lippie. Never be afraid to experiment, Let your creative flag fly. Happy Fatshion Friday loves 🙂

Jump into Fall

Outfit of the Day #59: Derek Heart x Nine West
2fatshionforward_ootd59Hey babes I’m wearing a jumpsuit today. Yes I know me the girl who thought she would never find a jumpsuit that fit as good as the one at FTF. This knit strapless jumpsuit is soooooo comfortable though. It has a drawstring in the waist making it casual and chic. Plus it has pockets, You know I live for pockets on a garment.  Jumpsuit is one of my latest thrift finds, suit is made by Derek Heart. I paired blue jumpsuit with my leopard cardigan for a fall forward look.
6fatshionforward_ootd593fatshionforward_ootd59I read in last month In-Style that leopard print coats will be making a comeback alongside the bomber jacket and the trench coat as fall’s most trendy outerwear. Leopard print cardigan by Nine West “Woman”. Cardigan has a reversible collar, a straight hem and 3 big black button along center front as closure. This cardigan is so warm and luxe, perfect for the F/W season. I slayed a few trends but conquered two style fears this week. I call them style fears because they are things I use to be afraid to try and wear. I’m wearing a strapless garment and heels which are both huge in my book but tiny in someone else’s.
1fatshionforward_ootd595fatshionforward_ootd59I accessorized this look with this season’s hottest trend the black choker necklace. I tried this trend for the Celebrity Style look, remember that? I think Kendall Jenner really set this trend in motion. I also wore my first pair of heels for you babes you saw it here first, I found these patent leather wedges by Michael Kors and couldn’t resist. I told myself it’s now or never as far as heels go because I never really wear them so it is a scary challenge but I DID IT 🙂 I wanted to give the look an edge, so I added a dark lippie. Vampy lips are in but you can go full punk with a black lipstick.
