Negative Space . . . My Nod To The 90’s

Outfit of the Day #62: Chico’s x Fatshion Forward
2fatshionforward_ootd62Hey Girl Hey. I have been busy as ever helping my sister plan her wedding that took place this past weekend. But here I am, back again with another look and this time I am doing a nod to the 90’s with a modern twist. What screams 90’s more than a head to toe velvet look. I desgined and made this velvet set myself. Set includes a crop top and midi skirt.
3fatshionforward_ootd625fatshionforward_ootd62Sleeveless crop top featured a scoop neckline, soft hand and elastic in the hem. Paired with coordinating midi skirt and pom pom slip on sneakers. I reviewed these super comfy Betsey Johnson sneakers yesterday check out post here if you missed it. accessorized look with a family heirloom: a matching earrings and necklace set. I have a lot of stylish women in my family and I like to honor them as much as I can through my work.
1bjsneakers_fatshionforward4fatshionforward_ootd62I I layered velvet skirt set with a jacket by Chico’s. Jacket featured stripes of satin sewn close together giving it a negative space illusion when stripes spread apart. Jacket also features zipper front closure, pockets and bomber like collar. Velvet set and jacket paired well together because of the jackets print and the solid black of the set. I think the entire look has a sporty and chic feel with a 90’s edge due to the simplicity of the set and the sneakers.

Jump into Fall

Outfit of the Day #59: Derek Heart x Nine West
2fatshionforward_ootd59Hey babes I’m wearing a jumpsuit today. Yes I know me the girl who thought she would never find a jumpsuit that fit as good as the one at FTF. This knit strapless jumpsuit is soooooo comfortable though. It has a drawstring in the waist making it casual and chic. Plus it has pockets, You know I live for pockets on a garment.  Jumpsuit is one of my latest thrift finds, suit is made by Derek Heart. I paired blue jumpsuit with my leopard cardigan for a fall forward look.
6fatshionforward_ootd593fatshionforward_ootd59I read in last month In-Style that leopard print coats will be making a comeback alongside the bomber jacket and the trench coat as fall’s most trendy outerwear. Leopard print cardigan by Nine West “Woman”. Cardigan has a reversible collar, a straight hem and 3 big black button along center front as closure. This cardigan is so warm and luxe, perfect for the F/W season. I slayed a few trends but conquered two style fears this week. I call them style fears because they are things I use to be afraid to try and wear. I’m wearing a strapless garment and heels which are both huge in my book but tiny in someone else’s.
1fatshionforward_ootd595fatshionforward_ootd59I accessorized this look with this season’s hottest trend the black choker necklace. I tried this trend for the Celebrity Style look, remember that? I think Kendall Jenner really set this trend in motion. I also wore my first pair of heels for you babes you saw it here first, I found these patent leather wedges by Michael Kors and couldn’t resist. I told myself it’s now or never as far as heels go because I never really wear them so it is a scary challenge but I DID IT 🙂 I wanted to give the look an edge, so I added a dark lippie. Vampy lips are in but you can go full punk with a black lipstick.

Fall into Fashion: Summer to Fall Look

Outfit of the Day #58: Ross x Pink Club Wear
2fatshionforward_ootd58Happy #FatshionFriday my loves. Today’s outfit of the day is very fall forward, I’m showing you babes how to wear a summer piece for fall. I’m also tackling two trends in one look: Trench coat trend and Rust: color trend. Rust is like a burnt orange shade from Pantone’s fall palette. I came across this dress during my latest shopping venture through Ross Dress for Less. I just had to have it especially since the price was unbeatable. The shift dress was priced at $12.99 and is available in sizes small – 3x.
4fatshionforward_ootd583fatshionforward_ootd58I purchased dress in a size 3x which runs true to size and although it’s a stretch knit I don’t recommend sizing down simply because of the style. The shift dress has a loose fit and it will lose it’s shape if it’s stretches up more then a half a size up. My favorite detail of this dress is the faux laced neckline which flatters your bust. Dress features long sleeves and the hem dances right above the knee making it a great staple pieces for the season.1fatshionforward_ootd586fatshionforward_ootd58I layered a black trench vest by Pinkclubwear over the dress, for a autumn chic approach. I bought this trench during PinkClubWear’s summer clearance sale. When I saw this sleeveless trench I thought it would be the perfect transitional piece. The vest embodies minimalist style and was an easy piece to layer. Because it’s sleeveless it layers well with the thicker fabrics of the season and fits comfortably over long sleeves, cardigans, sweaters and over outerwear. Trench vest featured waist tie belt, pockets and and buttons along center front as closure. Vest runs one size smaller (3x = 2x) so if they don’t have your size you can just tie it closed or wear it open like I did.
5fatshionforward_ootd58I accessorized my look with a chunky statement necklace with matching earrings, midi ring, and a cognac faux leather satchel. I completed the look with cognac faux leather booties by Charlotte Russe. Slip on booties featured braided band detail with buckle at ankle and slouched shaft. I mixed two lipstick colors to achieve the lip color I’m wearing.

Fall Hues = Season Blues

Outfit of the Day #55: Fall Hues = Season Blues
4fatshionforward_ootd55Happy Monday my loves, I hope you all had a good weekend. Today I’m bringing you dolls one of my office looks. This polka dot button up dress from Old Navy is one of my latest thrift finds and I found polka dot sunnies to match. I’m wearing a size 20 and dress runs true to size although it did fit snug around my stomach area. So to my apple shaped beauties definitely size up. Sleeveless dress features buttons along center front as closure, curved hem and detachable tie at the waist. The black and white classic polka dot makes the dress timeless and easy to style.
2fatshionforward_ootd555fatshionforward_ootd55 I paired polka dot dress with one of my favorite knit blazers. I wanted to add a pop of color to the look to break up the monochrome print. My cobalt blue blazer and flats got the job done nicely 😉 . I always see this shade of blue reappear around this time of year so I was prepared this time. I bought these faux suede flats from Charlotte Russe. Review will be up tomorrow so check back for that.1fatshionforward_ootd55I accessorized the look with a large clutch, midi rings, two beaded bracelets and sunglasses. Oversize clutch has a monochrome magazine cover print from seam to seam and a black patent leather handle. This clutch like midi rings are the perfect accessories for day to night looks.
